Water Filter Installations - Prices, FAQ & Booking | Rudi The Plumber
How much does water filter installation cost?
Water filter installation starts from £50 for straightforward single-stage systems, such as the Maverick Pure MAV 01, MAV 02, Water2 Pod 2.0, Pod 2.0 + Fluoride Filter and Waterdrop 10UA, 10UB filters. More complex systems, including reverse osmosis (RO), typically start from £175 due to the additional installation work involved.
The final price will depend on the type of filter, your existing plumbing and the work required. Some installations may involve drilling the sink or worktop for a dedicated filtered-water tap, connecting to the waste pipe, making small alterations to kitchen cupboards, or running pipework or power into an adjoining cupboard.
If you send me the make and model of your water filter along with a few photos of the area under your sink, I can usually provide a clear price before arranging your installation.
How long does it take to install an under-sink water filter?
Most single stage with or without a flouride filter like Water2 + Flouride take 1 hour. Any Reverse Osmosis system usually take between 2 and 4 hours.
Can I install a Water filter myself or do I need a plumber?
Yes – Most water filters are designed for easy DIY installation, sometimes as little as 10 minutes when everything fits perfectly.
However, most UK homes have slightly different pipework, unable to find stop taps, missing isolation valves or flexible hoses, which is where people usually run into problems.
I can professionally fit your Water filter. Just get in touch.
Do you install Waterdrop filters?
Yes.
Do you install Water2 filters?
Yes.
Do you install Reverse Osmosis filters?
Yes.
Can you install a water filter with my existing kitchen tap?
Yes.
Can you install a separate filtered-water tap?
Yes. There are a variety of water filter taps on the market.
Does my kitchen need a new tap?
Not usually.
Can you drill a quartz worktop for a filter tap?
Yes. To reduce the recently increasing concerns around hazardous respirable crystalline silica (RCS) dust I use a continuous pool of water and wear protective equipment.
Does My Home Have Enough Water Pressure for a Water Filter?
Before installing a water filtration system, it is important to check that your mains water pressure is suitable for the system you are having installed. Many customers are unaware that different types of water filters and reverse osmosis systems have different water pressure requirements.
Water Filter Pressure Requirements
For single-stage water filter systems, such as Water2 and Waterdrop, a minimum mains water pressure of around 1 bar is generally required for the system to operate correctly.
However, having adequate water pressure is particularly important when installing a reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration system. For non-pumped RO systems, a mains water pressure of around 3 bar is ideal. If your water pressure is too low, the system may produce filtered water more slowly and can become less efficient.
What If My Water Pressure Is Too Low?
If your mains water pressure is below the recommended level, this does not necessarily mean that a reverse osmosis system cannot be installed. Many modern reverse osmosis water filters are available with a built-in booster pump, while some systems offer a pump as an optional add-on.
A booster pump can increase the pressure supplied to the RO membrane, helping the system produce filtered water more efficiently where mains water pressure is low.
Before installing any water filter or reverse osmosis system, I can check your existing water pressure and advise you on the most suitable system for your home.
From single-stage drinking water filters to advanced reverse osmosis systems, I install a wide range of water filtration systems from leading brands.
How often do water filters need replacing?
Most single stage filters need replacing between 6 months and a year. All depending on how much you use them and if they are installed on a separate standalone filter tap.
Water filter installation near me – areas I cover
Based in Syston (LE7), I cover the whole of Leicester & Leicestershire including:
Syston • Thurmaston • Birstall • Rothley • Queniborough • Barkby • Mountsorrel • Sileby • Anstey • Glenfield • Groby • Oadby • Wigston • Leicester City Centre • Market Harborough • Market Bosworth • Newtown Linford and all surrounding villages within approx. 10–15 miles.
Why has my water pressure dropped after fitting a water filter (Water2, Waterdrop, iSpring, etc.)?
A drop in pressure is completely normal and actually a helpful sign!
These filters remove microplastics, PFAS, chlorine, lead, heavy metals and (in hard-water areas like Leicestershire) limescale gradually builds up inside the cartridges.
When flow slows down, it almost always means it’s time to replace the filter – usually every 6–12 months depending on your water hardness and usage.
