What is a Maverick Water Filter?
Maverick Pure Water produces compact under-sink drinking-water filtration systems designed to provide filtered water directly from your existing kitchen tap.
The current MAV 02 uses a multi-stage filtration cartridge. Maverick describes its filtration as a 5-in-1 system incorporating sediment filtration, activated carbon, fluoride-reduction media, anti-scale protection and silver-ion antibacterial protection.
Unlike a reverse osmosis system, a Maverick filter does not normally require a separate RO waste connection or electrical supply. This makes it a relatively straightforward option for customers looking for an under-sink drinking-water filter.
How much does Maverick installation cost?
Water filter installation starts from £50 for straightforward single-stage systems, such as the Maverick Pure MAV 01, MAV 02, Water2 Pod 2.0, Pod 2.0 + Fluoride Filter and Waterdrop 10UA, 10UB filters. More complex systems, including reverse osmosis (RO), typically start from £175 due to the additional installation work involved.
The final price will depend on the type of filter, your existing plumbing and the work required. Some installations may involve drilling the sink or worktop for a dedicated filtered-water tap, connecting to the waste pipe, making small alterations to kitchen cupboards, or running pipework or power into an adjoining cupboard.

Maverick MAV 01 Installation
The Maverick MAV 01 is an earlier Maverick under-sink water filtration system.
It uses a compact filter housing and is designed to connect directly to the cold-water supply underneath the kitchen sink.
Maverick states that the MAV 01 provides similar filtration performance to the newer MAV 02, but with a shorter period of scale protection.
If you already have a MAV 01 installed and need it replaced, serviced or reconnected, I can assess the existing installation and advise on the most suitable replacement.
Maverick MAV 02 Installation
The Maverick MAV 02 is the newer Maverick under-sink water filter and uses the company's Ultra filter cartridge.
I can install your MAV 02 and connect it to your existing kitchen cold-water supply.
A typical installation may involve:
Checking the existing isolation valve
Positioning the filter underneath the sink
Checking available cupboard space
Checking the existing pipework
Connecting the filter to the mains cold-water supply
Installing the required inlet connection
Connecting the Maverick filter
Flushing the new filter
Testing the system for leaks
Checking the filtered-water flow
The exact installation will depend on your existing kitchen plumbing.
What Does a Maverick Filter Remove?
Maverick states that its filtration system is designed to reduce a range of contaminants and impurities, including chlorine, heavy metals, PFAS/PFOS, VOCs, microplastics, bacteria, limescale and fluoride. The manufacturer also states that the system is designed to retain naturally occurring minerals in the water.
The exact performance of any filtration system depends on the particular filter cartridge, water quality and conditions of use.
If you're choosing between Maverick, Water2, Waterdrop or another brand, I can install the system you choose rather than recommending a particular manufacturer.
Maverick Water Filter & Limescale
One of the reasons customers consider Maverick is its focus on limescale reduction as well as drinking-water filtration.
Maverick states that the newer MAV 02 provides limescale reduction for up to 12 months, depending on water quality and usage.
If you live in an area with harder water and are looking for an under-sink filter that also addresses limescale, Maverick may be worth considering.
However, an under-sink drinking-water filter should not be confused with a whole-house water softener. It filters the water supplied to the connected outlet rather than treating all of the water entering your property.
Do I Need a Plumber to Install a Maverick Filter?
Maverick describes its systems as being relatively quick and straightforward to install, and many customers may be able to install them themselves.
However, the actual difficulty depends on the plumbing underneath your sink.
A plumber can be useful if:
Your isolation valve is old, seized or non existent
Existing pipework needs modifying
Access underneath the sink is restricted
Your existing filter needs removing
Connections are difficult to access
You want the installation checked for leaks
You would simply prefer the system professionally installed

Can You Install a Maverick Filter That I Bought Myself?
Yes.
You don't have to purchase your Maverick filter through me.
If you've purchased your Maverick system directly from Maverick Pure Water or another retailer, I can install it for you.

This allows me to see what type of installation is likely to be required before I arrive.
Maverick Filter Replacement
Maverick states that its filters can last up to 12 months or 30,000 litres, depending on which comes first.
The current MAV 02 uses the Ultra replacement cartridge, while the MAV 01 uses its own replacement cartridge.
If you're unsure which replacement cartridge you need, send me a photograph of your existing Maverick system and I can help identify it.
I can also replace the cartridge and check the connections if you would prefer a plumber to carry out the work.
Maverick Filter Tap Installation
Maverick under-sink systems can be connected to the appropriate filtered-water outlet depending on the installation.
If your installation requires a dedicated filtered-water tap, I can install a suitable tap as part of the work.
Installing a separate drinking-water tap may require a new hole to be drilled through the kitchen sink or worktop.
If you have a quartz, granite, porcelain, stone or other hard worktop, let me know when booking so I can establish what will be required before installation.
