Water ionisers and alkaline water machines can require more than simply connecting them to a kitchen tap. Depending on the system, installation may involve connecting to the cold water supply, fitting adapters and tubing, and providing a suitable route for acidic or waste water.

How Is a Water Ioniser Installed?
1. Cold Water Connection
A suitable connection is made to the cold mains water supply beneath the sink.
2. Inlet Tubing
The water supply tubing is routed neatly between the plumbing and ioniser.
3. Acidic / Waste Water
Where required, a suitable route is provided for the machine's acidic or waste water outlet.
4. Testing
Once installed, the plumbing connections are checked for leaks and the water supply is tested.
Countertop Water Ionisers
Countertop ionisers sit on the kitchen worktop and usually require a water supply connection from beneath the sink.
Tubing can be routed as discreetly as possible depending on the kitchen layout and the manufacturer's requirements.
Under-Counter Water Ionisers
Under-counter systems keep the main unit inside the kitchen cupboard, with the dispensing tap or control positioned above the worktop.
Installation may require drilling and additional work to route the water connections neatly.
